Toldi is a dog, breed is Vizsla (Smooth), other name is also The Hungarian Pointer
(Vizsla means pointer in Hungarian). "Smooth" is noted, because there are also Wirehair Vizslas that are recognized by
Kennel Clubs around the world. Toldi's name is derived from
old Hungarian folk hero Toldi Miklos, immortalized by famous Hungarian poet
of the 19. century, Janos Arany in 8 volumes. Toldi Miklos is to Hungary, as
Robin Hood is to England. Ancient Magyar noble hunted with
his horse, falcon and his Vizsla. "Dances with Falcons" is
paying tribute to a Hungarian history of long ago.... and since Francois
Bernier insisted this litter be named for a flight........ :) it
fits.
Toldi has received his
First Point towards his Canadian Championship at Kanata Kennel Club
show in first week of May 1999 by
finishing BOB over Specials. He has completed his Canadian Championship at Ottawa Kennel
Club Championship Show on May 30, 1999, one day before his 9th month of age. (click
here for show pictures) Toldi also completed his Junior Field
(FDJ) and he has finishing his first leg being 2nd at G.S.P.C. of Eastern Canada field test with 95/100 points.
Toldi has attained his JH title in 4 for 4 runs in USA in April 2000 (click
here for hunting pictures). At the middle of 2001, Toldi
is standing with multiple BOBs, Group placements
and Group wins. Among his achievements is winning The
Vizsla Society of Ontario Specialty 3 times starting in November
1999, 2000 and July 2001. Toldi has also won Canadian National
Specialty in July 2001 (BOB and Best Canadian Bred), 2 weeks after
winning the VSO Specialty. (click here for Can. Specialty
pictures) and attained his US Championship in getting his
three 5 point Majors
at three US Specialties. (click

He was awarded #1
Vizsla for 2000 by CKC and is currently ranked again #1 Vizsla in
Canada for 2001
July 13/02 - Toldi
qualifies in his third leg of Filed Dog test with the score of 90 and
finishes his FD title in Qubec. Thank you John Reid for your dedication
and love of field and dogs.
Toldi is well proportioned and balanced Vizsla
with moderate rear angulation, good top line and a nice deep chest.
He is 23 3/4" tall and weighs 51-53 lbs.. His balanced and strong body affords him
almost effortless movement with great reach and drive. He is well
muscled - strong, but elegant. As you can see from his portrait, he
has a beautiful, masculine Vizsla head. He is a pleasure to watch move in the
ring and in the field. Toldi has been bred by Francois Bernier of
Bajnok Vizslas and we are privileged to call this exceptional dog our
own. Of course this is not just our opinion, it is seconded many
times by International Judges that Toldi has been competing in the
show ring under.
Best of all this
dog has an exceptional temperament, adapts to new situations and
surroundings well, loves people, puppies, new
experiences and plays any games we can come up with - or he comes up with
-
with his usual drive and gusto. He is happy, outgoing and a great
kisser - and he talks a lot! He reaches out to all
kinds of dogs, people and other creatures of this earth to make it a
pleasure to have him in our lives.
Toldi is working towards his FD and SH
now in the spring of 2002 with John Reid from
Onpoint Perm Red'd Kennels.
