Video - 7 weeks old - in the dog's room, expanding their horizons and meeting all the adult dogs:

There are 4 slides shows on Picasa, pictures from week 6 and 7. Puppies got a visit from lovely children this weekend and enjoyed playing with them and we took the for a ride in the car. You can click on the links below to access these on Picasa:

That went over well till about 1/2 hour in the ride couple of them wanted to get out of the crate so we had a short term screaming by couple of them, but they stopped when they didn't get anywhere. It is the key to crate training. Never speak to them when they are hollering, only take them out when they quieted down or took their breath, so they do not associate their hollering with being taken out of the crate or comforted. Couple of nights of lost sleep will be worth it in the end.

Puppies need to know you will react only when they are not screaming. We suggest to put their crate by your bed at night so you can reach down and put your fingers in the door to let them know they are not alone in the dark, strange place. Being away from the comfort of sibling and familiar smell and sounds can be frightening experience for everyone, not only puppies. We put crate in their box and in the play room, so they are well familiar with it. They also rode in 2 larger crates in the car with close doors so they know it also. We have done a lot of work to socialize these pups, but much larger work awaits you, the owner. It is absolutely essential that you expose your pups to varied environments and situation, people, cars, people on crutches, wheel chairs, different ethnic backgrounds and sizes, dogs (strange dogs only after their 2nd set of shots) of different breeds and sizes.

The window of opportunity closes at 4 1/2 months, not on learning, but on absorbing the world around with confidence and fearless abandon. Please don't miss your chance to have a confident dog. Only few more days and puppies will be going home with you. They are a blank slate, socialized and outgoing, they only know good things and good people. Please keep it that way. They are like sponges, absorbing everything around them, learning to behave. Get ready to enter a world of wonder and newness through the eyes of your puppy. The most important advice I can give now is BE PATIENT! BE KIND! They will learn, but don't expect them to learn overnight. It takes time for us to learn, we go to school for 12-16 years to become educated adults, don't expect your dog to do it in a few months. All training sessions, no matter how frustrating for you, end them on a positive note, doing an exercise you know the puppy will not fail in! Call us 24/7 with ANY questions or problems!
