TAILS AND DEWCLAWS DAY

Last picture of the brood with their tails and dew claws

Dew claws are being removed and the wound seared with the stick

Dana came with her technician for a house call to do the dew claws and dock the tails here about noon today. Steel was put in crate and as far away as I possibly could put her so she couldn't hear the puppies going through the procedures. I measured and marked the tails, we will see how good we have been at estimating the good length.  Everyone, but the Mr. Blue took the procedure not too badly. Mr. Blue made such noise, I was ready to tell Dana to stop. Good thing she was fast. All of the puppies looked quite content after few minutes in the box, especially when Steel returned, they started nursing right away. There are arguments for and against, but as Francois Bernier says, if you object to tail docking, why get a Vizsla? Vizslas not only look good with their tail docked, but it also serves a purpose in the field.

Finishing the job, one pretty tail end coming up!

... and here they are after the procedure, joined the Vizsla circle

But Steel is just happy that they are all there and accounted for after her 30 minute separation from here babies.
