Group nursing - 3 weeks old

3 weeks

Puppies turned 3 weeks old on Saturday. They have all gained almost 4 lbs. since they were born and you can see the weight chart on the main puppy page. They are starting to be weaned and we had some messy puppies today as they tried to eat from the pan instead of the nipple. The smarter puppies stepped into it and were lapping it in, all of them had it on their paws and ears. We had to wash them with damp cloth. They had their first visitors, Grace and Ilkim came to see them and spent the weekend playing, holding and talking to the puppies - and taking pictures and movies. Steel is spending more and more time away from them. They all have teeth now, starters anyway, and they are biting each other, barking and generally walk or run around the whelp box. They are starting to also develop character trait and it will be fun to see how they progress in developing their personalities. They are such neat puppies, they crawl throught the cut outs in the middle panel no problem and go to pee on the newspapers we put there. How on earth do they know to do this?
