Toldi Miklos is a famous Hungarian folk hero immortalized by a great poet, the national Hungarian treasure, Janos Arany in late 19th Century. He wrote in 8 volumes about a hero, Toldi Miklos who helped the poor, stopped stampeding horses, fought bulls and of course saved beautiful maidens. He is the Magyar spirit personified, complex, but simple in it's appreciation of life. The fighter for justice and equality, hero and champion, loyal and romantic, a gentle poet with the heart full of passion for life - exactly like our Toldi "The Magnificent"!    

 

Toldi's  BISS win at Vizsla Canada Nationals in July 2001 was a special trill for us, since this was Toldi's 4th Specialty win. Specialty was judged by Mr. Thomas Touzel. Toldi also placed as #1 Vizsla in Canada in the show standings for 2000 and in 2001. In 2002 he was top ten Field Dog (Senior Hunter) in All Pointing Breeds Standings for Canada (CKC.) He has retired from the show ring in 2001 and was only shown a few times since. Toldi finished his US Championship with 3 x 5 point Majors from Specialties before his 2nd birthdate (this was followed by his daughter Tula). He was never specialed in US. 

Toldi is that rare combination of great looking, great moving dog with exceptional field ability that he has been passing on to his children.

We want to wish all the best to our Toldi for his birthday on August 31st. He may be showing his age in getting grey, but his high spirits and energy are as they were those 12 years ago - full of life and heart!

Toldi is at home in the field as much as in the show ring

Toldi on point. He was the Top Ten Field Dog (Senior Hunter) in Pointing breed standings in Canada in 2002. He was #1 Vizsla in Canada in 2000 and 2001 and has by then won 4 Best in Specialty Shows (3 consecutive VSO Specialties and the Canadian Nationals).

Toldi and Frank did their Canine Good Neighbor title in Kinsville. Because of his past achievements this qualified Toldi for the Grand Champion title, a new title by the CKC for dogs that achieved lot in the shows and also have working titles.

Toldi is a well proportioned and balanced Vizsla with moderate rear angulation, excellent top line and a nice deep chest. He is 23 3/4" (60 cm)  tall and weighs 52-54 lbs. give or take a pound. His balanced and muscled body affords him almost effortless movement with great reach and drive. He is well muscled - strong, but elegant. As you can see from his portrait, he has a beautiful, masculine Vizsla head. He is a pleasure to watch move in the show ring and to hunt with in the field. He is an exceptional example of his breed. This is not just our opinion, it is seconded many times by International Judges that Toldi has been competing in the show ring under or by Field Trial Judges that judged him in the field events. He has a keen nose, great drive in the field and a very stylish point. He has won 4 Vizsla Specialties and many, many Group wins and placements in his show carrier (check his Show page) and now has been making a name for himself in the field (check his Field page).  

Best of all this dog has an exceptional temperament, adapts well to new situations and surroundings, loves people, puppies, new experiences and is a game for any activities we come up with - or he comes up with - with his usual drive and gusto. He is happy, outgoing and a great kisser - and he talks a lot! He wraps himself in blankets to go to sleep and he is a very sensitive and giving canine friend. He reaches out to all kinds of dogs, people and other creatures of this earth and he makes it a better place for being in it - and you know ? It is!

Toldi has produced some great puppies with several selected bitches. Some of their achievements are listed on the side bar. Not listed are all the dogs that achieve love and happiness for their families being just like Toldi, lovable, smart as a whip and playful. Toldi's legacy are his well tempered and beautiful puppies that bring joy to their owners, no matter how many titles they may achieve and his exceptional contribution to the Vizsla breed.

• 2005 US Nationals - Daughter Tula wins WB, his another daughter Leia is 2nd in 6-9 class (3rd in sweeps), his son Falco makes the cut and his another son Scanner get to the final cut and top 20 in US.

• By Dec/2011, Toldi has sired 37 Champions (Can and US), BISS winner,  35 Field titled offspring, NAVHDA Prize I and Prize II pups. Senior Hunter, Field Dogs & Junior Hunters.

Born to Dash and Seger, in Hull, Quebec, Canada to Francois Bernier, Bajnok Vizslas, Toldi is absolutely the MOST magnificent dog. Toldi has made his mark on the Vizsla world already, not only by his own achievements, but he is also the Sire of: American and Canadian Champions, Field dogs, Best in Specialty show winner, many Awards of Merit, Group winning and Group placing pups, field trial winners, sire of 2005 Vizsla America Nationals Winners Bitch, and all around NICE, great temperament Vizslas. BISS grand son and US Grand Champion, Charlie. Stud Dog - 2004 Nationals 3 of his sons received Award of Merint that weekend (at the Nationals Falco and Scanner, and at the VSO Specialty, Ripper. Ripper went on to win VSO Specialty in 2006). Falco's son Charlie is US Grand Champion and BISS winner.

Single tracking: Below is Francois Bernier, Toldi's breeder and Toldi, winning together his first VSO Specialty in November 1999, at just 14 months old under breeder Judge, Mrs. Jacking Perkins from U.K.. The next day, Toldi won the BOB from a large entry at the Caledon show under Mexican Judge, Dr. Castro.
